Broncs,
barrels and bulls — it's Sisters Rodeo!
It is the
longest-running Sisters area entertainment event and one of
the most exciting. For the 68th time, the PRCA Sisters Rodeo
will offer rodeo fans great performances by championship cowboys
and cowgirls in all professional rodeo events.
Four great
shows and a weekend of special events of ³he Biggest Little
Show in the World" are scheduled for June 12-14, 2009 at the
Sisters Rodeo Grounds three miles south of Sisters on Highway
20. Performances will be held Friday, June 12, 7 p.m.; Saturday,
June 13, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, June 14, 1 p.m.
The Sisters
Rodeo parade moves through downtown Sisters on Saturday, June
13, starting at 9:30 a.m. The parade is a highlight of rodeo
weekend and features visiting rodeo queens, marching bands,
floats, vintage autos and equestrian groups.
On Sunday,
June 14, the Kiwanis Buckaroo Breakfast will be served from
7 to 11 a.m. The Cowboy Church Service will be held at 9 a.m.
Both events are held at the rodeo grounds.
The PRCA
Sisters Rodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys
of America and is the third largest rodeo in Oregon. The rodeo
has the highest purse in the West in this early part of the
season, which entices top names in the PRCA to compete in Sisters.
In 2006,
Sisters Rodeo was picked as the ³Rodeo of the Year" by the Columbia
River Circuit that includes Washington, Oregon and Northern
Idaho.
