Sisters loads the calendar with events Sisters is world famous for its classic events — the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, the Sisters Rodeo, the Sisters Folk Festival. Yet there are a whole lot of other exciting and entertaining events that weave the fabric of Sisters. On May 30, 2010, mountain bikers will roll out for the first Sisters Stampede, a cross-country race on the newly completed Peterson Ridge Trail — a great course with “wow!” views. For more information visit www.sistersstampede.com. The Sisters Roundup of Gems is an annual Fourth of July Weekend tradition. Running July 1-4, 2010, the gem show brings rock hounds and jewelry collectors to the Sisters Elementary School grounds, where they can peruse an acre of rocks, fossils and gemstones from around the world. Sisters will host the second annual “Glory Daze” Car Show on Saturday, July 17, 2010. Cars of all makes and models will be making their way into Sisters for the one-day car show. The event will be held on Adams Avenue in downtown Sisters. Awards will be offered in various categories. Entry forms are available at the chamber office. Call 541-549-0251. Sisters will salute its heritage as a former timber town with “From Timber to Turned Wood” on Saturday, October 2, 2010. The event features a lumberjack exhibition, with log rolling, cross-cut sawing, hot sawing, ax throwing, chainsaw carving and chopping, speed pole climbing and an obstacle pole relay race. There will be wood carving and other demonstrations from wood artists celebrating the sustainable new uses to which Sisters puts natural resources. Musicians will gather for a “Log Jam.” Sisters is home to a wonderful array of restaurants and unique culinary experience. These all come together September 17-18, 2010, in a Taste of Sisters.
