Sisters is an athlete's playground
Looking for some action on your visit to Sisters? Some local athletes have put together some stellar sporting events where you can test your mettle on challenging and spectacular terrain or take a shot at something you've always wanted to try in a safe, supportive atmosphere.
A couple of years ago, local athletes joined together to create Sisters Multisport (www.sistersmultisport.com) to foster low-key, family-friendly athletic events in Sisters Country.
Look for winter snowshoeing events and other running events throughout the year.
The Sisters Stampede mountain bike race has quickly become one of Sisters' signature events, runs on the Peterson Ridge Trail developed by the Sisters Trails Alliance. A unique start/finish will be located just steps away from Three Creeks Brewing Co. which will be launching a "Ridge Trail" ale for the event and will host the after-race party. For more information visit www.sistersstampede.com.
The Peterson Ridge Rumble held each April has become one of Sisters Country's signature events.
It's is a fun, low-key event on and around the Peterson Ridge trail near Sisters. There are two distances in the event: 40-mile and 20-mile options.
Staying true to the low-key vibe of the event, dogs are allowed in the 20-mile race (no dogs in the 40-mile). Both races will start and finish at Sisters Middle School. The race is a fundraiser for the Sisters High School cross-country team. Many of the volunteers are cross-country team members, witnessing what they will be competing in within 10 years. The 40-mile is race part of the Oregon Trail Ultra Series. For dates go to www.petersonridgerumble.com.
